Maid of Honour
Michaela is my big sister, my biggest supporter and the very first love of my life. She often wants more for me than she does for herself. She is selfless, generous, bossy and has made me the woman I am today. Aside from Chris, she is my most important wedding attendee. My sister’s approval of Chris was simultaneously the most necessary and most challenging to receive. I am pleased that she gave Christoffel her blessing.
Bridesmaid
Kirsty is sunshine personified. I have known her since we were 10 years old, but our friendship truly blossomed during varsity and covid. She is the person I would call if I was sad, angry or overjoyed and will always be my “hype woman”. In short, she is the easiest person to absolutely adore. We also got “married” in Grade 7 so it only seems appropriate that she be a part of my second wedding.
Bridesmaid
My dearest Amber is joy in human form. Despite being vertically challenged, I look up to her. Amber and I met in our very first lecture in first year and became inseparable. She is the most special soul, and our friendship is one of a kind. There have been countless days where I felt I couldn’t cope, and Amber was always there reminding me that I could. She will never truly know how much she means to me.
Best Man
The brother I never had, Leslie has been there for me for as long as I can remember. Whether it involved throwing me into ice cold pools as a child, absolutely destroying my chest press PR’s in the gym or creating the braai master I am today he has always been a constant. He has shown me what it is to be a good husband and father and as such I could not think of a better best man than the best man that I know.
Groomsmen
Gavin and I have been through a lot together over the last few years; we studied together, lived together and practiced together. Had I not had him with me through all that time I know for a fact that it would have all been a lot more challenging. Gavin is stoic, strong willed and has a wicked sense of humour and I am so glad he is able to join us for this special day. Just keep him out of the Tequila.
Groomsmen
The person I would have married if I hadn’t met Jenna. Devon and I have managed to maintain the same silly relationship we had in high school, despite him being thousands of miles away in France. We have shared so many memories together, some of which should never be repeated in decent company, and I am so grateful that he will be sharing in this one too. Please note that if he and I get caught in a bout of laughter there is very little you can do to curtail it so calmly exit the situation and head for the nearest alcoholic beverage.
